Applecross Trust appoints Marketing Manager
3 May 2019
The Applecross Trust, a charity that owns and manages the 26,000ha estate on the Applecross peninsula, has appointed Jess Whistance as its new Marketing Manager.
The Applecross Trust is looking to the future, building on the progress that has already been made to develop partnerships within the Applecross community. It is keen to prioritise good communication as the key to a harmonious and productive relationship, and Jess will be a part of making that happen. Jess will be managing the Applecross Trust’s website, providing regular updates on progress and projects, as well as heading up the marketing for its new venture, Hartfield House hostel.
Jess, previously Marketing Manager at Scottish charity, Venture Trust, is based locally within Applecross, and has extensive knowledge and understanding of the area, of tourism marketing, and both the benefits and the difficulties of living and working in this remote area of the north west Highlands.
Hartfield House hostel was, until recently, leased to Venture Trust to run as part of their business, and Jess provided the marketing function for a number of years. But in April 2019, the building – and now the business too – has transferred to the Applecross Trust, and will continue to be run as a hostel.
Rodger Harvey Jamieson, Chairman of the Applecross Trust, commented, “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jess as Marketing Manager for the Applecross Trust. We look forward to great things, and welcome her to the team.”
Jess comments, “I am really pleased to be working for the Applecross Trust. I spent several years marketing Hartfield House as a part of my role for Venture Trust and so it is something I know well, and has so much potential to grow and develop in the right hands. But more than that, I live and work in Applecross – it is a place I am passionate about. To be able to be part of positive change in the area, to help shape its future, is a real privilege.”
Hartfield House is a Visit Scotland 4 star hostel set back from the Applecross bay and at the foot of the Bealach-na-Ba mountain pass. Originally an old hunting lodge on the Applecross Estate, Hartfield is a large building set in its own grounds and sleeps 50 in a mix of twin, triple and private and double bedrooms.
